The Beacon Hill Urban Renewal project involves the redevelopment of a 100-acre area of an old inner city neighborhood that had fallen on hard times, and suffered disinvestment, decline and urban decay into a vital center city neighborhood with modern infrastructure, attractive public improvements, and significant new residential housing. Taliaferro & Browne, Inc. (T&B) created the Beacon Hill Redevelopment Plan which introduced new, mid-block streets (“terraces”), several new public open spaces and smaller neighborhood parks, and approximately 300 units of single family, multifamily, and existing home rehabilitation. T&B has provided civil and site design for this new plan, including utility concept and engineering drawings based on existing infrastructure and utility distribution. Projects include Beacon Park Townhomes, 24th Street Streetscape, UMKC Student Housing, and the green infrastructure improvements in Beacon Hill’s Northwest Quadrant. Beacon Hill Urban Renewal project is an on-going project, having been developed and constructed in stages since 2005.
